David Joseph Foster, 75, from Point Place was called home, Tuesday, August 25, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. He was born October 17, 1939 to Mr. & Mrs. Maurice (Charlotte Pinter) Foster. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1957. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1999 after 30 years of service and also retired from CSX Railroad after 30 years. He then worked for Safe Guard Security. He graduated from the Police Academy at Owens College where he also received a degree in Park Recreation. He was an avid sportsman, loved fishing, hunting and boating. He was a life member of Amvets Post 222, VFW Post 606 and the American Legion Police Post where he enjoyed playing dart ball and pool. He was a member of the Monroe Gun Club, the North Toledo Arrow Club and a Mason. He was a past member of the Lucas County Sheriffs Auxiliary. Survived by his wife Cindy; son, David C. Foster; daughters, Annette Foster and Renee (Jack) Heebsh; grandchildren, Derek, Brandon, Abby, Joshua, Jacob and Luke; great-grandchildren, Devon, Danika, Daniel and Mila; brother, James (Judy) Redenbo and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at Blanchard-Strabler Funeral Home (1163 W. Sylvania at Lockwood, 419-269-1111) on Sunday from 2-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fr. David Cirata, celebrant (5153 N. Summit, Toledo) Full Military Honors will follow the Mass. Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project.
