Daniel R. Batdorff, 59, of Northwood, Ohio, passed away on Saturday morning, April 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his wife and sons. He was born in 1961 in Oregon, Ohio, the son of Robert L. and Judith A. Batdorff. Daniel, or Dan, as most friends and family called him, was a beloved husband, father, son and brother. Dan loved the outdoors and enjoyed working in his yard, growing a vegetable garden every summer and always enjoyed walking his dog. He was a hard worker and had spent much time remodeling his home and was a handy man who could fix almost anything around the house. One of the many joys that Dan experienced in his life was being baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1983. From 1985 to 1986, he lived in New York and served at the headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Brooklyn. He was assigned to work in the paint and scaffold department where he spent much time on scaffolds, high above the ground, painting the outsides of buildings. He loved studying the Bible and enjoyed volunteering his time sharing the things he had learned with others. In 1986, Dan met the love of his life, Heidi, and they were married in 1987. In 2001, Dan and Heidi added to their family when their son Ross was born and welcomed their son Quinten in 2004. Dan was a wonderful father and loved spending time with his sons in various activities through the years including memorable vacations to places such as Hocking Hills, Sandbridge Beach and Acadia National Park. He also instilled in his sons his love of the Bible and all of its wonderful promises for the future. They have continued to follow in his footsteps and carry on his spiritual heritage. Dan is survived by his wife of 33 years, Heidi Batdorff; sons, Ross A. Batdorff and Quinten D. Batdorff; father, Robert L. Batdorff; sister, Dana M. (Dean) Hahn; sister-in-law, Robin Batdorff; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Judith A. Batdorff and brother, David J. Batdorff. A memorial service will be held via Zoom on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. Please contact a family member for the meeting ID and password. Dan will be interred in a private ceremony at Lake Township Cemetery. The Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Walbridge has had the honor of assisting the Batdorff family.
