Colleen Jean Szekeres

Colleen J. Szekeres, 68, of Northwood, OH passed away Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Mercy St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, OH. She was born on June 27, 1955 in Toledo, OH to Donald and Wilma (Schulte) Dudley. Colleen graduated from Woodward High School in 1973. On October 15, 1976 she married Daniel R. Szekeres (Wagner), and he survives. Colleen worked primarily as a homemaker for her family. She also previously worked at Tony Packo’s and her and her husband previously owned and operated the Hunkey Town Tavern. Colleen was a member of the Pond Post in Toledo and worked there some too. She also helped out as a luncheon mother in St. Stephen’s cafeteria while her kids were in school.


Colleen enjoyed going to Put-In-Bay with her buddies. She was an avid bowler and years ago bowled in several fun bowling leagues. Colleen liked watching bigtime wrestling on TV and playing games on her tablet. One of her favorite things was being involved with and spending time with her grandkids and going to support them in all their activities. Colleen always enjoyed babysitting for many family members throughout the years too. She was affectionately known as “Nana” by her grandkids and others. She was very close with her sisters and nieces too. Colleen also loved her dog Arlo.


In addition to her loving husband of over 47 years, Dan, she is survived by her children, Danny (Bree) Szekeres and Jennifer (Robert) Haas, 7 grandkids, Kedan Szekeres, Lexi Haas, Luke Szekeres, Olivia Haas, Camryn Haas, Branson Kerr, and Alaina Patterson, siblings, Donnie (Cindy) Dudley, Kathy Bann, Bill (Cindy) Dudley, Suzanne Rink, and John Dudley, brother-in-law, Martin Worley, and many loving nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Diane Worley, and brother-in-laws, Richard Rink and Butch Bann.


Memorial services for Colleen will be conducted 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 701 N. Main St., Walbridge, OH with visitation prior from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Celebration of Life following the memorial services at St. Stephens Catholic Church Hall, 1880 Genesee St., Toledo, OH. Memorial contributions in memory of Colleen may be given to the Arthritis Association or the American Heart Association.
