He was born on March 14, 1937 to Cecil Wilson and Alberta Garden Wilson in Saint Ann parish in Jamaica. In 1959, he married Edna Gadishaw and in 1964 they were blessed with their daughter Elizabeth (nee Wilson) Patty. They journeyed to the United States for positions in Perrysburg, Ohio in 1968 and lived there for 14 years before moving to their permanent residence in Toledo, Ohio. As an immigrant, Cleveland worked tirelessly and made many sacrifices to ensure that his daughter and grandchildren could be strong, successful, and productive. He proudly become a citizen of the United States in 1976. Cleveland was a formally trained chef and had a long career in the restaurant and hospitality industry. He loved to cook for his friends and family, and prepared a tasty traditional Jamaican menu for the annual Patty Bash. He was always the life of the party and enjoyed many gatherings drinking red wine or Red Stripes, sharing stories and jokes and at home his evenings were spent listening to great music, watching movies, or reading his scriptures. Cleveland was incredibly handy and liked to do his own home improvements. During his many family visits to Minnesota, his days were filled with home repair and remodeling projects which he relished. Cleveland adored his granddaughters, Emma and Maya, and said that they were his pride and joy. He taught them how to make beef patties, enjoy a good western, and how to take anything left in the fridge and turn it into an amazing dinner. Through his positive spirit, Cleveland also showed them how to make the best of any situation. Cleveland took on the saving Name of the Lord Jesus Christ when he was baptized in 1958, joining the Kingston, Jamaica, Christadelphian Ecclesia. He continued his faithful worship in the Toledo, Ohio, Christadelphian Ecclesia. His church family provided him with strength during challenging times and, in particular Phyllis Quick, during his final weeks. Clevelands memory will be cherished by his daughter Elizabeth Wilson Patty and her partner Jim Ysebaert and his family (MN); grandchildren, Emma Muir Patty and Maya Wilson Patty, and their father Tucker Patty and his family (MN); his sisters and brothers, Sarah Wilson, Amos Wilson, Theresa Wilson, Renford Wilson, Leonard Wilson (JAM), and Valda Wilson (CAN) and other close relatives Beverly Wilson and Rose Marie Wilson; his special friend Lisa Tidwell, longtime Jamaican compatriots Pamela Wilson, Windel Ascot, and Winifred Edward; former work colleagues Keith Berman, Becky Szmania, and Sue Halter; and wonderful neighbors the Gaynor family (OH).
