Chester Blair

Chester Blair, 66, of Holland passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2020 at Toledo Hospital. Chet was born on January 4, 1954 in Toledo, Ohio to the late William and Mary Blair. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1972. Soon after graduating, he met the love of his life, Marlene Bitzinger. After dating for five years, they were united in marriage on November 29, 1980. He was a dedicated and hardworking employee, working for many years as a Marine Contractor on many of the Great Lake freighters. Apart from work, he will be remembered most for his handyman skills, often fixing cars for his family members, being an Amateur Radio Operator (WB8CCL), his great love for drag racing, and OSU Football. He also enjoyed traveling, both for work and to see family and friends. Above all, his family will remember Chet as a man with a good heart. Left to cherish his memory are the love of his life and wife of 39 years, Marlene Blair; his brother, James Blair; his Cousin, Tom Woolaver (Betty); his nephew, James Blair, Jr.; and his puppy dog, Onyx. He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Blair; his half-brother, Dave Blair; his niece Mary Blair; his grandparents; and many other beloved family members and friends. The family will receive friends at Walker Funeral Home-Holland Springfield Chapel (7438 Airport Highway, Holland, OH 43528) on Friday, November 20, 2020 beginning from 11-12PM. A graveside service will follow immediately after the time of visitation at Springfield Township Cemetery in Holland, OH. Due to recent health orders, those in attendance will be required to wear masks. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hairy Houdini Siberian Husky Rescue. This event will be livestreamed. It will begin at 11:45 AM at the end of the visitation and end at 12:00 PM.
