Charles Leslie Gee, age 85, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on Sunday, March 5 in his home. Charles was born on December 31, 1937 to Leslie and Francis (Barbiaux) Gee in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Charles was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He was a military policeman and was deployed to Japan during his tour. Upon his honorable discharge, he worked as an Ann Arbor city policeman. He went on to obtain his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Toledo. Charles had a long career as a salesman in many areas including pharmaceuticals, industrial chemicals, security systems and finally premium food services.
In retirement, Charles along with his wife, Virginia, who preceeded him in death, pursued his passion for writing and went on to self-publish several childrens short stories that were dedicated to Virginia, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles and Virginia took the children’s stories out to a wide variety of book fairs and events in Northwest Ohio and created many memories doing so. Charles and Virginia were together for over 37 years and had a wonderful life that started out in Walbridge, Ohio, included travel abroad and across the United States, including several years in an Airstream, before returning to Walbridge, Ohio during their final years.
Charles was first married to Judith Fern, who preceeded him in death, and is survived by children Duane Edward Gee (Alan Dauphinas) and Thomas (Janette) Gee; grandchildren Erika (David) Wojkiewicz, Stephen (Rachel) Gee; great grandchildren, Thomas, Stella, Henry and Lucy Wojkiewicz and Alexander Gee. Step-Children Timothy Mullins, Deborah (Tom) Shellhammer, Andrea (Brian) McCloskey, and many step-grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles was also preceded in death by step-daughter Tammy Sue Baker.
Graveside services and internment for Charles and Virginia Gee will be held at Lake Township Cemetery on Saturday, March 25 at 12:30 pm.
