Charles E. Adkins Jr.

Charles "Chuck" E. Adkins Jr., 79, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 15, 2026.

Chuck was born on December 12, 1946, in Crestline, Ohio, to Charles E. Adkins Sr. and Mary (Love) Adkins. In his younger years, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Chuck dedicated much of his life to serving and protecting his community. He was a devoted police officer with Sylvania City Police Department and the Ohio Highway Patrol, where his commitment to helping others and keeping his community safe touched many lives. Additionally, Charles owned and operated Adco Firearms in Sylvania for 10 years, successfully growing his business through hard work and his expertise.

Above all, Chuck was a devoted family man. He loved his grandchildren more than anything and cherished every moment spent with them. He also had a special place in his heart for dogs and was always willing to help them in any way he could. His compassion, loyalty, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Sue Adkins; stepchildren, Ryan (Stacee) Landis and Rachel (Shawn) Landis; grandchildren, Mario and Julia Wallace and Sam and Ellie Landis; great-granddaughter, Kathleen Landis; and brothers, Alan (Kathy) Adkins, Gary (Teresa) Adkins, and Jim (Linda) Adkins.

A celebration of Chuck's life will be held on September 20, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Moose Lodge in Sylvania, Ohio. Family and friends are invited to come together to remember, celebrate, and honor Chuck's life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Toledo Humane Society or LC4 in Chuck's memory.
