Casey Smith

Beloved son of Sarah K. Smith and Kathleen LaFountain. Talented cinematographer. Fastidious editor. Amazing artist. Intense gamer. Gentle, shy, good man. Cheated out of most of his life. Rewind to the child who ran up and down the steps, hid in his tree house, left Legos strewn, and carried his cats in too small arms. Cut to the young soccer player with dirty socks and the smiling boy dressed in duct tape for the prom. Fast forward to the young man holding the camera, thinking how to frame the shot. A graduate of Savannah College, he was able to spend his last days there with his best friends in a place he felt most at home. Friends were always by his side. Too few words were spoken but we understood each other. A smile lit up the room; a laugh, the heart. I am reminded of the forbidden tattoo that you got anyway -"Somebody". We revel in the thought that we are, each of us, somebody. Teach us respect, understanding, and pride, my son, and most of all love. We cherish your memory forever.
