Carolyn Kirkby

Carolyn Mae Kirkby, 87, of Toledo, OH passed away on Monday, November 22, 2021 at her home in Otterbein Sunset House. She was born on November 8, 1934 in Fremont, OH to Paul J. and Ina C. (Wolfe) Reed. Carolyn married Fredric “Fritz” Kirkby in Lindsey, OH on February 22, 1958. She graduated from Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and retired from her nursing career in 1995 from Westerville City Schools. Carolyn was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. Carolyn and Fritz enjoyed working for 15 years at the Schottenstein Arena at OSU with many great friends. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and sewing as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchild. Her family will always remember and miss her “Gramey cookies” that she loved to bake for them. Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Fredric “Fritz” Kirkby; children, Cynthia (Gary) Hadsell, Tamara (David) Insull, Paul Kirkby; grandchildren, Alyson Insull, Michelle Hadsell, Samantha Insull, Lauren Hadsell, Andrew Insull and Jessica Davies; great grandchild, Emma Bennett; brother-in-law, Gene Donelson; nephew, Scott Donelson; and niece, Kelly (Jeff) Jones. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Donelson. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 28, 2021 from 1:00 pm until the time of the memorial service at 3 pm in Walker Funeral Homes, Holland-Springfield Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, OH 43528 (419-865-8879).
