Carolyn Anderson

June 20, 1947 — January 3, 2021

Carolyn Teresa Hicks Anderson was born June 20th 1947 to John Hicks Jr. and Gladys (Ross) Hicks in West Point, Georgia. She departed this life on January 3, 2021 at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her father and 4 nephews. Carolyn moved to Toledo with her family at the age of 6 years old. She attended Toledo public schools where she graduated from Jessup W. Scott high school in 1965. "Once a bulldog, always a bulldog." She joined, was baptized and raised in the St. Mark Missionary Baptist church under the pastorage of the late Rev. I.J. Johnson. She sang in the youth choir and was one of the founding members of the young adult usher board now known as the #2 Usher board. Later, she attended Moving Forward Christian Ministries under Bishop Darrell F. Sheares Sr.. and Pastor Latonya M. Sheares until her health prohibited her from attending. Carolyn married Charles E. Anderson Sr. in 1966. To this Union 1 child was born. Carolyn was employed with Ford motor company for several years and then became a home manager for Ziegler Habilitation Homes until 1997. Carolyn liked to bowl; was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with her high school classmates who called themselves "The Girlfriends" and would lunch with them monthly. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren as well. Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Gladys Hicks; daughter Tresa Lynn Anderson both of Toledo, Ohio. Grandsons Charles Antonio Cudjoe of Canton, Ohio; Sean Keith (Raeven) Warren II of Fairborn, Ohio; and Brandon Jamal Anderson of Toledo, Ohio. Great grandson Sean Keith Warren III "Buddy" and Great granddaughter Sienna Kae Warren both of Fairborn, Ohio. Goddaughters Serenity (Jay) Coates of Austin, Texas; Tiana Taylor and Trinity Gordon both of Toledo, Ohio. Sisters Barbara Barber of Lynnette, Alabama and Phyllis Jones of Stone Mountain, Georgia; Brother Robert (Margaret) Hicks of Bolingbrook, Illinois; Aunt, Liz Finely of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. Final goodbyes for the immediate family will be Saturday, January 16, 2021 @ 11AM at the Blanchard Strabler Funeral Home on Tremainsville. Bishop Darrell F. Sheares will officiate. A public celebration of life will be held on June 20, 2021. Location and time to be determined. Please save the date and plan to join us.
