Bruce Birkenkamp

Bruce Birkenkamp, age 79, of Holland, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015 with his loving family by his side at UTMC. He was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 14, 1936 to Hubert and Rose Birkenkamp. He was a graduate of Whitmer High School in 1954. Bruce worked at his family funeral home for 17 years, H. H. Birkenkamp. He later become an iron worker with Local 55 and Napoleon Steel, retiring in 1980. All his life, Bruce loved model railroad trains. He was very active and longtime member of Swanton Model Railroad Club and Flying Tigers Model Airplane Club, T.R.A.C. Radio Club. Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Sr. and Rose Birkenkamp, sister, June Rose France and brother, Hubert (Sonny) Birkenkamp Jr. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Violet Birkenkamp, children, Bryan (JoEllen) Birkenkamp, Jimbo (Kim) Carros, Eric (Virginia) Carros, Karen Birkenkamp, Steven (Robin) Birkenkamp, Kevin Birkenkamp, Randy Birkenkamp, and Keith (Lana) Carros. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday, January 4, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at H. H. Birkenkamp Funeral Home, 3219 Tremainsville, Toledo, Ohio (419-473-1301). Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Springfield Township Cemetery.
