Betty Jean BurtIt is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Betty Jean, who left this world peacefully with her grandson Anthony Burt by her side on September 10, 2023. She was 89 years old and lived a life filled with love and laughter.Betty J. Burt was born September 6, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio to the union of Kenneth Dunbar, Sr. and Loretta Dunbar. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph T. Burt; mother, Loretta Dunbar; father, Kenneth Dunbar, Sr.; brother, Donald Dunbar, Sr.; and sister, Florence Harper.Betty Jean Burt was married to Joseph T. Burt for 60 years. She was an active member of the Dunbar/Elks League, the young Seniors league, and bowled at RCR Bowling Lanes for many years. Betty was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns, and last but not least, the Cleveland Cavaliers, with her favorite player for the Cavaliers being Ricky Rubio, which she called him her Ubbie Doobie. Betty Jean Burt enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, playing her numbers and would also from time to time listen to music. Two of her favorite songs being Silent Night by the Temptations and also Pony by Ginuwine. Betty was never afraid to speak her peace and did not apologize for it, which made her the woman she was for the 89 years of her life.Betty Jean Burt leaves behind her brother, Kenneth (Frances) Dunbar, Jr. sons, Michael (Tina) Burt, Sr., Steven Burt, Sr., Eric (Hope) Burt, Sr., daughter, Robin Burt-Carouthers; grandchildren, Steven Burt Jr., Michael Burt, Jr., Marquise Backman, Eric Burt, Jr., Daniel Carouthers, Anthony Burt, and Carnelle Burt, Andrea Burt, Francoise Punky Burt, Ashley Carouthers, Sierra Burt, Jada Burt, and Sasha Burt; favorite niece, Kimberly Hackney-Jones and favorite nephew, Marvin Jones; with a host of great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids.We would like to give a special Thanks to Robin Carouthers, Eric Burt, Sr., Hope Burt, Sierra Burt, Jannyi Madden, Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd, and Mrs. Yvonne Parker, along with Hospice of Northwest Ohio for the around the clock care for Betty Jean.As we say our final goodbyes, we remember Betty Jean Burt with love and gratitude.
