Barbara Swartout, lovingly referred to as Grandma Duck by her grandchildren and GiGi Duck by her great-grandchildren, peacefully passed away on May 3, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Barbara Swartout was born on August 6, 1931, in Fonde,
Kentucky, to Jim and Margaret Fields. She was the last surviving sibling among nine.
Barbara is survived by her devoted daughters, Erika (Terry) Yoder, Andrea Kuhr, Jennifer (Richard) Friel, and Taryn (Lance) Miley. She was a cherished grandmother to Jordan Sandretto, Taylor Taube, Whitney Hogrefe, Cody Yoder, Austin Friel, Kyle Friel, and
Konner Kuhr, and a beloved great-grandmother to her ten great-grandchildren.
Barbara had an immense love for her family, finding joy in spending time with them. Known for her passion for crocheting, she often crafted pieces for her loved ones. A devout Christian, Barbara found solace in reading her Bible and attending church services. Her eyes would light up as she shared stories of her childhood in the hills of Kentucky, painting vivid pictures of days gone by.
A private funeral will be held on Monday, May 6th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to various charities in Barbara's honor, reflecting her generous spirit and desire to help others less fortunate. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to
Perrysburg Commons for embracing Barbara as one of their own during the final year of her life.
Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those she loved. We take comfort in knowing that she is now in the loving embrace of Jesus. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely
gave.
