Antonia "Toni" O. Lerma

Antonia “Toni” Orosco Lerma, 82, of Holland, Ohio, passed away suddenly on November 23, 2022, after entering the hospital. She was born on May 10, 1940, to her parents Salvador and Lorenza (Ortiz) Orosco in Encinal, TX where she grew up alongside her ten siblings.

Early in her career, Toni began to work as a teacher’s aide at Spencer-Sharples Elementary School. Before working at Dennis Topsoil doing landscaping. Later she went on to settle into her role as a retail worker at Meijer where she worked for 27 years. Toni married her late husband, Enrique Lerma, Sr., on December 29, 1960, after having met him at a drive-in movie theatre. Together they had five children.

Toni, also known as Gigi and Great Grandma, was a very loved woman who cherished her family dearly. She will be fondly remembered not only for her loud yelling voice and (often) strict attitude but also for her love of dancing and celebrating. She would dance anywhere, lighting up the room as she went. She was a great baker and cook, who absolutely loved to bake Quinceanera ,wedding and anniversary cakes, and would be sure to enjoy some tequila on special occasions. She was a very supportive wife, who famously woke up every morning of her marriage to make homemade tortillas to pack in her husband’s lunch. She loved to shop and spend time tending to her garden, especially to her morning glory’s.

Toni will be remembered by her family as a very serious woman. Later in life, Toni had a weird sense of humor, but she was truly a great wife, mother, grandmother, and great-great grandmother to all of them. She was strict but sensitive, and at the end of everyday was extremely proud of her family. Her family will cherish the laughter and all the memories that they shared with her. She will be tremendously missed by all who knew her.

Toni is survived by her children, Ayne L.(David)Mendoza,Enrique Lerma, Jr., Nena (Leonardo) Rodriguez, Annabel Lerma, Eliazar Lerma, Sr., her 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; her 3 sisters and many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Enrique Lerma, Sr.; granddaughter, Isabel Rodriguez; and her 8 siblings.

All are invited to a visitation that will take place on Monday, November 28, 2022, at the Holland-Springfield-Walker Funeral Home, 7438 Airport Hwy., Holland, from 3-7 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. A funeral procession to the cemetery will follow.
