Alvin M Grant

Alvin M. Grant, 88, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Monday, January 15, 2024 at his home. He was born in Lenoir City, Tennessee on August 1, 1935 to Clarence C. and Martha E. (Garrett) Grant. Alvin married his sweetheart, Janith M. Durdel on September 2, 1978 in Toledo and cherished 45 years together.

Alvin was a plumber by trade and retired after 27 years in 1983. He was a faithful member of Wonder Ministries in Holland. He was a handy man who enjoyed woodworking, ceramics, and tinkering around making things. He was a train enthusiast. Alvin had a passion for the outdoors. He loved doing yardwork, birdwatching, and spending time at the Metroparks which he supported and contributed to them. Alvin constructed the treehouse models that were used at Oak Openings Metroparks.

Alvin is survived by his loving wife, Janith M. Grant; Children, Ann Brunk, Edward (Diane) Grant, Suzanne Grant, Alvin D. (Bonnie) Grant, and Tim Lewis; grandchildren, Alexa (Chris) Escareno, Jennifer Matamoros, Kenny (Brynn) Klatt, Brian (Colleene) Klatt, Joshua Winslow, Janna Winslow, Kristi Grant, Katie Grant, and Aaron Grant; many great grandchildren; brothers, Clarence, and Jim; sisters, Almeda and Connie. He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Denise Klatt and Michael Grant; brothers, Marvin and Chuck; and sister, Ellen.

Friends will be received at Walker Funeral Home, Holland Springfield Chapel, 7438 Airport Highway, Holland, Ohio 43528 (419-865-8879) on Thursday, January 18, 2024 from 3:00 PM-6:00 PM. A graveside service will be on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Highland Memory Gardens, 8308 S. River Rd, Waterville, Ohio 43566 in the mausoleum at 1:30 PM.
