Alma (Fitch) Abrams, age 93, of Holland, Ohio passed away Monday April 27, 2026, in her Wolf Creek condominium. Alma was born April 6, 1933, to George and Hilda Fitch.
She lived in Toledo, Temperance, Michigan, Yuma, Arizona and spent most of her winters in Florida with her husband Martin after he retired.
Alma's interests included bowling (she carried an average in the high 150's for decades), geology (loved hiking in the desert collecting and studying information about rocks when she lived in Arizona), and Alma REALLY loved music and dancing! She could out dance most people half her age until age 88 when she fell and broke a hip. After that she would still dance while holding onto a chair or somebody's arm.
Later in Alma's life, her most enjoyable time was spent gambling once or twice a week. She would go to various casinos in Michigan with friends that she made on the bus trips before COVID. She once won $1000.00 playing on the penny slot machine (her favorite machine!).
Alma graduated from DeVilbiss High School. She married Martin Abrams shortly after high school and they were married for 63 years before Marty passed. Alma's career was mostly being a housewife and working part time at the University of Toledo in the Registration office. She also volunteered often at The Bennett Park Mothers Club, PTA, voter registration and helping with activities at Wolf Creek.
Surviving Alma is her son, Scott (Julia) Abrams of Toledo, Ohio; granddaughter, Kasey (Nick) Karafa; and great grandsons, Benjamin and Samual Karafa of Columbus, Ohio.
A Celebration of Alma's Life will be held at the Elks Lodge 53 at 3520 Holland Sylvania Rd. Sylvania, OH from 2-5pm, on Saturday, May 30, 2026. Friends and family will be received from 2:00pm until the time of the Celebration beginning at 3:00pm. Guests are encouraged to bring funny stories and good memories spent with Alma to share during the Celebration.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cherry Street Mission Ministries (1501 Monroe St., Toledo, OH 43604).
Arrangements by Sunrise Cremations and Funerals (419-666-3121).
