Alfred Timothy (Big Al) Phillips born to James and Bobbie Jo (Wynn) Phillips, Jr. on April 21, 1963. He gave his life to Christ at an early age. At that time, he joined Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church under Pastor Samuel Coleman. He was a graduate of Nathan Hale and in 1981 graduated from DeVilbiss High School (A Tiger forever.) He played football for both schools. Al was also an avid bowler for many years. He was a Michigan Wolverine fan and a die hard Pittsburg Steelers Fan (Steeler Nation). Al was a fancy dresser, everything he wore looked good on him. Al married Samantha Debose from which two beautiful children were born.Al was employed by Greyhound as a bag handler until 1984 when he received his CDL. He then became a bus driver for Greyhound where he worked for 10+ years. In 1997, he was employed as a bus driver for Tarta for 15 years until his illness.He was preceded in death by his parents and both sides of grandparents, and his fianc's son.He leaves to mourn his passing, daughters, Latisha A. Phillips and Allonda Q. Phillips both of North Carolina; grandchildren, Kaylin N. Phillips, Christopher L. Marshall; Fianc and best friend, Demetria Mays and her six children; sisters, Theresa (Marlow) Crowley, Tina (Rodney) Phillips-Gott, all of Toledo, Ohio; brother, George (Betty) Phillips of Arkansas; 1 uncle, Bill (Jeanette) Phillips of Pensacola, Florida; special friend and confidant, Mom-Pat Pollard and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
