Joseph James Mason

Joseph J. Mason died on May 31, 2023, at the age of 82 with his wife and children by his side. Born to Robert and Dorothy (Marsh) Mason in Toledo, Ohio on March 19, 1941, he was one of three children.

Joe graduated from DeVilbiss High School. Several years prior he met his wife Sally Owens at church. They were sweethearts before long and were wed in 1959.

Joe went on to get his associate degree as well as his bachelor's degree in business. He worked as a Toledo Police Officer for 13 years and then went on to work for Lott Industries for 25 years, where he was a production coordinator.

Having a soft spot for family, children and grandchildren, Joe loved and cared for them all. He was a storyteller that may have left his audience wondering if he had embellished the truth a bit. The family would go camping and enjoyed vacationing in various spots.

Model trains and Boy Scouts were two of his past times. He was active in scouting for many years, including as Scoutmaster for Troop 117.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 64 years, Sally; children, Joe (Mary), Timothy (Dawn), Michael, Karen (Mark); and 8 grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Robert (Cathy) Mason and Marsha (George) Keller. Joe was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Perrysburg, Ohio (871 E. Boundary) on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 12:30 pm with a time of visiting beginning prior at 10:30 am. A luncheon will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a gift to The Boy Scouts of America or St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church.
